Staycations-image

When you’re working or going to school full-time, life can get pretty hectic and, subsequently, the stress can pile on. In order to keep yourself sane and reduce the chance of a breakdown, we suggest taking a vacation! Vacations can be expensive, which is why we’re sharing information about a vacation alternative: a staycation. What is a staycation, anyhow? It’s a vacation where you don’t leave your own town.  Hotels If you’ve ever traveled before, you’re probably well aware of how expensive travel can get, especially when you’ve got all your expenses to consider. If you’re traveling out of the country, the plane tickets are bound to be expensive, which makes the additional expense of housing accommodations can set you back even more! Because you’ll be saving some money on air fare on your staycation, you can allocate those funds toward getting a nicer hotel to stay in! Spring for the ones with the nicer beds and room amenities. Or, sleep at home and splurge on a fancy restaurant or entertainment venue you wouldn’t normally attend.  Restaurants How much of your local area have you explored? There are many ways to be an expert on the area you live in, but our favorite way to gain expertise is by knowing the best places to eat! You probably have your favorite spots here in Tucson, AZ, but we encourage you to branch out and try restaurants you’ve never been to!  Spas Treat yourself to some rest and relaxation by going to the spa! Depending on your preferences, you can get a facial, manicure/pedicure, or even a massage. Because it’s your staycation, you should focus on de-stressing by taking a break from your everyday life, so find a spa that’s in your price range and get relaxed!     Do you have any staycationing tips for our One West Broadway apartment community? While summer may be drawing to a close, there is still plenty of time to take advantage of the warmer weather here in Tucson, AZ! Swimming is a great way to cool down on hot summer days, so we’re sharing some tips that can help you have a safer, more enjoyable days at the pool in this week’s One West Broadway Blog. We hope you use these tips to make the last moments of your summer more enjoyable and fun! Be Mindful of Others  Horsing around may be fun, but there are plenty of ways it can hurt or bother someone else, especially in a crowded pool. Remember that you may be sharing the pool with other people, so keep the splashing to a minimum if you’re close to someone and practice having fun without getting into a stranger’s personal space. Doing so will help you avoid unwanted accidents and unnecessary injury. Don’t Swim Alone Accidents can happen with even the most experienced swimmers, so make sure you’re swimming with a friend — not only in case they need to help you in case of an emergency, but so you can have someone to share in the fun with. If you happen to be swimming with children, ensure that you’re present with them and remain aware of where they are at all times. Encourage them to follow swimming safety rules. Take Breaks Whether it’s a bathroom break or a water break, taking a moment to get out of the pool and relax avoids accidents and encourages people to stay calm and keep themselves from getting a cramp or other injuries. Remember to remind any children you’re with to take breaks, as they can get caught up in the fun.    Do you have any swimming pool tips you’d like to share with our apartment community? Spring Cleaning Tips-image

Spring is here, which means it’s time to get cleaning! Oddly enough, even though it doesn’t get very cold here in Tucson, AZ, we still follow the conventions related to the seasons. Your home can get cluttered easily through the winter months, which is why it’s important to take the time and give your home a once over cleaning! In this week’s One West Broadway Blog, we’ve got a few tips for you on how you can get your home clean for the spring and summer! Declutter Even though you may enjoy a nice clean home, you may still accumulate clutter in your apartment. Clutter can take many forms, from clothes you haven’t worn for years to unused appliances collecting dust on the shelves in your kitchen. We suggest going through your home and placing those unused items into a basket or a bag and set them aside to be donated or thrown away. If it comes down to items that are still usable, we recommend donating them to a local shelter or thrift store so they can be given new life with someone else! Move Your Furniture When cleaning, it’s normal to clean the spots you can see and neglect the hard to reach places. Ensure that your home gets the cleaning it deserves by cleaning the hard to reach places, which you can get to by moving your furniture! You’ll be surprised how much cleaning you’ll need to do and how many things you’ve lost to the depths of your furniture. After you’ve moved your furniture, you can consider changing how your home is arranged, which would give your apartment new life! Organizational Systems Keeping your apartment clean and organized is difficult, but if you find an organizational system that works for you, it gets easier! It takes a concerted effort to keep your apartment spic and span, so don’t give up if it gets a little tedious or difficult. Once it becomes habitual, you’ll be able to maintain your home just the way you like it.

Thanksgiving Meal Tips-image

Thanksgiving is at the end of November, and it can be a stressful time if you’re the one hosting friends and family for a meal. To help you avoid the stress of hosting a meal, we’ve decided to share with you some tips in this week’s One West Broadway Blog. As you follow these tips, you’ll have an easier time during your food preparation and it will save you some stress. Food Preparation Though Thanksgiving is a day of feasting on delicious food, many people forget that there is a lot of preparation that goes into it. Save yourself some time and trouble on the day of Thanksgiving by preparing the night before. Cut up your vegetables and other ingredients so you can have easy access to them when you’re putting everything together. You can also make the gravy the night before and freeze it. Doing these small things can save you some time and worry in getting everything done.     Make It a Potluck If you are worried about being able to feed everyone, you can invite your guests to bring a simple side dish as their contribution. Not only will this save you some stress, it lets your guests be a part of the festivities and diversifies your meal options. To ensure that your guests are bringing different dishes, keep organized with a shared Google Sheet. Your guests will be able to open up the sheet and sign up for what they intend on bringing and avoid bringing something someone has already signed up to bring.   Set a Budget Feeding a large group of people can be expensive, so we recommend setting a budget in order to make sure you’re not breaking the bank. Start your Thanksgiving shopping early so you can gather all your necessary ingredients before everyone else. This way, you can look for deals along the way. Do you have any Thanksgiving tips?
